My name is William Toth, I am a Junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and I am pursing a degree is Computer and Systems engineering. Some courses that I have taken include Laboratory Introduction to Embedded Control, in which we were tasked with creating a control system for hovering a blimp, and Computer Architecture, Networking and Operating Systems. Currently I am enrolled in the course Computational Vision, where we work on techniques of calculus and linear algebra to develop efficient algorithms to solve problems in computer vision.
Some of the things that interest me are applications of embedded systems in robotics and control, and more recently, how computer vision can play a role in this. Some of the experience in this field comes from my experience in the FIRST Robotics Program, where the programming I did lead our team to the international competiton at the Gerogia Dome in Atlanta. Currently I volunteer as a mentor on the Robotics team at my high school during Winter break.
I am currently serving as the President at the Alpha Chapter of the Theta Xi Fraternity, where I am in charge of keeping the house running to its best ability. Two semesters ago our house had the highest GPA for all fraternities on campus. I am also a Senator for the Class of 2013 on the 42nd Student Senate. As part of the senate I am on the Rules and Elections Committee, which is in charge of all students elections on campus, and the Student Life Committee, which deals with various issues having to do with student rights and housing.
